All About Us

Our farm is maintained by Bill and Jackie Bouwkamp but, is actually run by the CEO’s Evan and Trace.

Bill and I were married in 2002 and were happy running a small horse business raising quarter and paint horses. Around 2003 I had an accident on a horse and lost confidence in my riding abilities, so I focused on our breeding program. When the horse market dropped out from under us, I decided to get while the getting was good. We sold almost all of our horses except for a few and around that same time our friend had gotten into goats. I never liked goats until I met this group of pygmies he brought over to live here. I fell in love! We had our first round of kidding with the pygmies, and it was horrible! I decided then that maybe pygmies weren’t my forte, not to mention I wasn’t impressed with the non leading uncooperative attitudes mine had. This isn’t to say all pygmies are like that but it sure put a bitter taste in my mouth. I then moved on to raising mini alpines, but found that no one wanted to exchange animals to use for breeding and I would have to maintain about 60 animals to get anywhere. Nope, decided it wasn’t for me. This was when I first met Sheradee Peyton from Psalms Songs, and she introduced me to purebred Alpines. I was in love. So I decided to move in that direction, but I still loved the small size of the Nigerians. So I started two herds, Alpines and Nigerians, and I decided then that I wanted to start showing and doing something with my new found hobby. I started doing research and trying to find the best show quality animals that I could find and I actually started with the Nigerians first. I bought from many different herds, and then discovered that I really needed to stay with just a couple to really get my goats consistent in what they were producing. I started with Critter Croft and Kaapio Acres to really start focusing on the show herd. I saw such great improvements that the excitement also moved to the alpines and we started making the move up with lines such as Granted-Wishes, Munchin’ Hill, and Olentangy. Both herds have made such a turn around for me that I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me choose the quality stock I have now. We are movin’ up in the world!

Eventually we dispersed all of the horses because it was more difficult after the kids came along and way to expensive to have them standing in the back yard not earning their keep.

So that brings us to the dogs. We have always loved Boxers and I aquired my first male in 2003, Diesel. We then bought a female, Raina, a couple of years later and obtained another male Titan, who is Diesel’s son. We generally raise a litter of boxer puppies a year, however Raina will not be replaced and when she is to old to produce we willprobably cease to raise them anymore. Raina is being retired this year (2011), this was our last litter of Boxer puppies :(

In 2005 we came across a miniature Australian shepherd at a sale, and we were in love with the breed. I spent the next two years purchasing and raising 3 of these lovely dogs. Maggie, Sadie, and Gunner are all wonderful little working dogs and sometimes I think I couldn’t do this farm work without them. They help me when there isn’t anyone else and boy can they help! We generally breed one litter a year of these guys and to date everyone has been very happy with their pups. We recently acquired a new addition to our Mini Aussie crew, Miss Contessa or Tessa for short. She is a red merle female from Cardinal Country Aussies, Thanks Sandi!

So that is really the history of Caprine Acres. We currently raise only registered animals so we can meet you all in the show ring!! We hope you have a good time looking around .
